Child labour

They say "Todays children are nation's future ".But see what we have done to our nations future.We are exploiting them by forcing into labour,depriving them of their basic education.India is the largest nation affected by child labour.

It is estimated that about 60-115 million working children are in india which is largest number in world.(Human rights Watch 1996,1).

some of the reasons why these children are drawn into labour.

*The main reason is poverty of the family.Sometimes, entire family has to work for the survival.

*Parents themselves send their children as domestic servants for the sole purpose of money.

*Most of the children turn into labour after they run away from home. They run away mainly

-because of daily arguements and quarells between their parents.

-when they are beaten by their parents.

-when their performance is poor in studies and not able to tolerate the pressure from the parents.

*Some people hire child labour basically because they can be forced to work more at a lesser price.

what government is doing???

Apart from introducing different child labour acts, govt. has started rescue teams.

What does Rescue Teams do???

If they come to know that a particular child is working there, then a team of four homeguards, one police officer, rescue office organization's officer goes to the place, gives notice to the parents or concerned authority there and takes the child in custody.Then these people are sent to RBC's(residential bridge centres). Here they are given counselling to drive them towards education. Basic deucation is given to them along with different activities until they are changed.After 14 years they are sent for higher studies in govt. institutions.

What we should do???

We have seen them working everywhere, in agriculture fields,dhabas, households,industries, mining, construction work,general stores, hotels, travel agencies,transport agencies,automobile servicing/repair shops and many more.We see them them everywhere.We do not take any action. We see their lives being ruined. We are directly or indirectly spoiling their lives.As, World Anti Child Labour Day is arriving(june 12'th) I ask all you people who ever read this hub to open your eyes.See the damage being done to them.If u are not aware , become aware of the plague. Make others aware.Try to take the intiative to help reduce this problem.Dont ignore any child working in front of you. Teach them and their parents. Inform to Rescue Teams if you find a child labour anywhere.Dont keep any child for your hosehold work.If you keep , atleast give them proper education along with the work.
